Performance of Fingerprinting-Based Indoor Positioning with Measured and Simulated RSSI Reference Maps

Numerous indoor positioning technologies and systems have been proposed to localize people objects in large buildings. Wi-Fi Bluetooth using fingerprinting gained popularity, due the wide availability of existing infrastructure. Unfortunately, implementation fingerprinting-based methods requires time-consuming radio surveys prepare databases (RSSI maps) that serve as a reference for signal. These must be conducted each individual building. Here, we investigate possibility simulated RSSI maps with localization systems. We discuss suitability two popular wave propagation models preparation data: ray tracing multiwall. Based on an analysis several representative scenarios, evaluated performance distribution obtained from simulations versus measurement campaigns.
